MuCEM is a great group consisting of three sites spread over almost 45,000 m² in the heart of Euroméditérranée neighborhood, in the center of Marseille . Sea side , the museum occupies a single site perfectly embodying his project to establish a link between the two shores of the Mediterranean with the J4 , exceptional building designed by Rudy Ricciotti and Roland Carta , and Fort Saint -Jean , monument historic fully restored for the first time open to the public. Both buildings accommodate major exhibitions , appointments and weekly highlights of the artistic programming MuCEM . Landside , the Centre for Conservation and Resources (CCR) , designed by architects Corinne Vezzoni and André Jolivet , houses the collections of the museum, a documentary space open to the public consultation , reserves available and a small showroom.
MuCEM is open to all and where multidisciplinary anthropology, history , archeology, art history and contemporary art intersect place . It has a cultural look, social, scientific and political but also on the plurality of civilizations that formed the Mediterranean world from prehistory to the present day.
